ABBASID: AE fals (1.40g), Amul, ND, A-U317, citing Muhammad as the son of the caliph, i.e., the future caliph al-Mahdi (775-785), with the name Muhammad below // 2nd half of the kalima; unpublished and the first known coin of Amul in Central Asia, on the Oxus River southwest of Bukhara, unique, VF, RRR. The style is Central Asian, very similar to a fals of Bukhara dated AH151, within the time of al-Mahdi as heir apparent (AH142-158), very different from Abbasid fulus of the similarly named city of Amul in Tabaristan.
