ABBASID: al-Ma'mun, 810-833, AR dirham (3.02g), "Madinat al-Salam", AH212, A-223.4var, contemporary local imitation, North African style, with the reverse legend sall Allah / muhammad / rasul / Allah / 'alayhi wa salam, appears to be unpublished, struck during the rebellious years facing the Aghlabid ruler Ziyadat Allah I circa AH209-216, VF, RRR. The year AH212 is the rarest Abbasid year during its long period AH132-334 (less rare for gold), and apparently unpublished for any North African imitation.
