IMPORTANT NOTE - The Buyer's Premium is now $20 per lot or 20% of the hammer price, whichever amount is greater. However, we have also reduced opening bids on lower value items to adjust for the new Buyer's Premium structure, so all-in costs are still very close to what they were in the past. This change in fee structure will allow us to continue to offer coins valued at less than $100 in addition to our higher value offerings. Contact us with any questions.
ABBASID: al-Mu'tamid, 870-892, AR dirham (3.21g), Madinat al-Muwaffaqiya, AH270, A-240.6, special issue during the Abbasid defense against the Zanj Rebellion; some weakness but the mint & date are legible, crude Fine, RR. Al-Muwaffaqiya was a military camp set up by the Abbasid army for their defeat of the Zanj Rebellion in southern Iraq. Normal Abbasid gold and silver were struck there in AH268-270, but the camp was abandoned after the defeat of the Zanj, which occurred early in 271.
