ABBASID: al-Rumah, ca. 820s-840s, AE fals (2.60g), [Adhra'at], ND, A-A282, SNAT-253, excellent example, choice Very Fine, RR, from an American collection. The name al-Rumah or al-Rammah probably refers to a local governor at Adhra'at. That city is now called Daraa and is situated in southern Syria, about 5 miles from the border with Jordan, not far from the Jordanian city of Irbid. This type is always cast, never struck, as was typical of copper fulus produced in Palestine and parts of Syria from roughly 810 to about 850.
