AGHLABID: lead seal (8.81g), AH25x, 17 x 14 x 4mm, mimma amara bihi / al-amir muhammad / ... // sanah ... / [wa] khamsin / [wa] mi'atayn, the last digit of the date partially visible and either sab'ah or tis'ah, nice bold legends, VF-XF. This is one of a type of seal first published by Balog (1979) which he identified as bearing the names of ninth- to tenth-century Aghlabid amirs of North Africa and Sicily. The frequency of the dates suggested to Balog that these were poll tax seals. See www.britishmuseum.org/collection/object/W_2000-0841-1 for a similar example.
