The 3rd Algerian Rifle Regiment was one of the five most decorated infantry regiments of the Second World War along with the 4th Tunisian Rifle Regiment, the 2nd Moroccan Goumiers Group, the Chad Marching Regiment and the 13th Foreign Legion Demi-Brigade.
