ALGIERS: Ahmad III, 1703-1730, AV sultani (3.41g), al-Jaza'ir, AH1141, KM-16.1, nice strike, Very Fine to Extremely Fine, RRR. This is last Algerian Ottoman coin to retain the particle before the mint name, i.e., al-Jaza'ir. There are no coins reported for 1142, and in 1143, following the accession of Mahmud I, the mint name is always written as Jaza'ir, without the particle.
