ANCIENT CENTRAL ASIA: AV burial token (1.00g), ca. 5th-7th century, cf. Zeno-38290 & 306060, imitating late Roman or early Byzantine solidus from the time of Theodosius II to Anastasius I, helmeted and cuirassed bust facing slightly right, holding spear over shoulder and shield with horseman motif, star to right // winged Victory standing left, holding long cross, imitative Latin legend on both sides, possibly made for funerary purpose, light hairlines, XF-AU. Similar imitations of late Roman and early Byzantine solidi have been unearthed in various location along the ancient Silk Road in Central Asia and Western China.
