WESTERN TURKS: Sandan Vakhu Deva, early 8th century, LOT of 7 silver drachms, trilingual type derived from a standard Sasanian design, with legends in Brahmi, Bactrian and Pahlavi; 6 with countermark #103, and 1 with countermark #104, most with gold inlay, average VF grade, some better, decent strikes with no damage; retail value $800, lot of 7 pieces. There are four basic subtypes for this series: (1) no countermark and no gold inlay, rare (2) countermark #103 with gold inlay, relatively common (3) countermark #104 with gold inlay, rare; and (4) both countermarks 103 and 104 and the gold inlay, scarce.
