ANCIENT INDIA: AR vimshatika (4.47g), ca. 5th-3rd century BC, uniface, unusual obverse design that resembles winding rivers, with 1 countermark on obverse and 7 on reverse, appears to be unpublished, VF. Little is known of this series, which was found somewhere in the easternmost region of India, allegedly somewhere to the north of Chittagong. Their dating is uncertain, as they may have been produced for some sort of local coinages centuries after the suggested dates here. They are the easternmost of all known punchmarked coins.
