MAURYAN: Punchmarked, 3rd/2nd century BC, AR karshapana (3.33g), Pieper-144 (old volume, this piece), GH-589, series VII, three deities, bale-mark, dog & turtle // 4 bankers' marks (damaru, bale-mark, standard, triskeles), choice VF, RR, ex Wilfried Pieper Collection. According to the consignor, "Iconographically important type though an identification of the three standing figures is still pending. One possible explanantion would be that they could represent the mythical heroes of the Ramayana - Rama, Sita and Lakshman."
