ANHALT-DESSAU: Friedrich II, 1901-1918, AR 3 mark, 1914-A, KM-30, J-24, Commemorating the 25th Anniversary of the Wedding of Duke Friedrich II of Anhalt and Duchess Marie of Baden, a superb reflective mint state example! PCGS graded MS65, ex Joe Sedillot Collection. In 1914, after the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, Germany entered World War I. Anhalt, as part of the empire, was automatically drawn into the conflict. Troops from Anhalt joined the Imperial German Army, and many citizens were mobilized. On the home front, the duchy faced economic adjustments, growing shortages, and a shift in civil life as factories supported the war effort and patriotic propaganda spread.
