ARAB-BYZANTINE: AE fals, Tabariya, A-3512, Group Lot: Three Standing Figures, thin broad flans, vg to fine, some better grade but very porous surfaces, a few reasonably attractive (7 pieces), from an American collection. The Three Standing Figures type was derived from the late issues of Heraclius, who is portrayed together with his son Heraclius Constanine and the Empress Martina. On the Arab-Byzantine coins, the three characters tend to be identically engraved, although the central figure may be taller. A small research group. The broad flan subtype is generally believed to be earlier than the narrower flan issues.
