ARAB-BYZANTINE: Pseudo-Byzantine series, ca. 640s-660s, AE fals (folles) (3.31g), NM, A-3504, derived from Constans II (641-668) class 4, struck 644-647, but probably produced considerably later, perhaps as late as the Pseudo-Damascus series (ca. 680s): standing emperor holding 2 crosses, completely blundered Greek legend around // cursive M, blundered version of ANA NEOS alongside, Greek 512 below with the IB for "12" instead of the normal Greek A; attribution to the Arab-Byzantine series is tentative, could alternatively be an eastern Byzantine imitation, but that seems unlikely as the fabric and style is Arab, XF, RRR. A similar piece (same dies) was old in the CNG Electronic Auction 550 in 2023 as merely a "contemporary imitation of an official issue of the Constantinople mint."
