ARAB-BYZANTINE: Standing Emperor, ca. 640s-650s, AE fals (3.69g), NM, A-3504, pleasing example, with obverse inscription derived from Greek KA?ON but misarranged, reverse very similar to the NEO issue illustrated by Foss (p. 20), choice Very Fine, RR, from an American collection. Foss has suggested that coins of this type are very early Arab issue, circa the early 640s, but general theory places them circa mid-650s to the early 670s, especially because of the debased Greek inscription on obverse.
