ARAB-BYZANTINE: Two Standing Figures, ca. 636-640s, AE fals (4.84g), N[eapolis], ND, A-3502N, Similar to MIB type X23 under Heraclius (different dies), with the letter N in lieu of an officina mark, mint CON in exergue (off flan on this specimen), undated, Fine to Very Fine, RRR, from an American collection.

The type is derived from the follis of Heraclius & his son Heraclius Constantine, struck 630-640, his regnal years 20-30 (Sear-810). The actual mint is indicated by the letter N as an officina mark, but undated, as is clear in the MIB specimen. With the letter K between the heads of the two figures. Foss has assigned this type to the last years of Byzantine control of Nablus (634-636), and it possible that this was struck during the last months of Byzantine control, or struck both before and after the Arab conquest, though my preference is to date this in the late 630s or early 640s.
