ARAB-SASANIAN: Glass vessel stamp (17.30g), ca. 680-720, B-9var, winged horse (al-buraq) pacing toward the left, trace of text above, probably rabbi Allah, of which Allah is clear, light brownish green, some devitrification, Fine, RRR. The winged horse, al-Buraq, also appears on Arab-Sasanian pashiz from Istakhr (Gyselen-22, A-A42) and Darabjird (Gyselen-13, A-45.2). Al-Buraq was the winged horse, often illustrated with a human rather than an equine head, that carried the Prophet Muhammad from Mecca to Jerusalem, then back to Mecca.
