ARAB-SASANIAN: glass vessel stamp (6.23g), ca. 680s-720s, A-0, B-9, winged horse (al-buraq) pacing toward the right, trace of text above (possibly rabbi Allah), light green with a touch of brown, some devitrification, VF, RRR. The winged horse, al-burag, also appears on Arab-Sasanian pashiz from Istakhr (Gyselen-22, A—) and Darabjird (Gyselen-13, A-45.2). Al-Buraq was the winged horse, often illustrated with a human rather than an equine head, that carried the Prophet Muhammad from Mecca to Jerusalem, then back to Mecca.
