ARMENIA: LOT of 4 small copper chalkous, issues of Mithradates, ca. 180-170 BC, all with king's bust, wearing bashlyk, facing left on the obverse; reverses: (1) Nike advancing left, holding wreath (1.70g, crude Fine) (2) griffin springing left (1.12g, VG, porous surfaces) (3) eagle flying right, poorly engraved (0.84g, Fine, slight porosity); and (4) Nike advancing left, traces of legend around (1.52g, crude Fine, corroded); all types unrecorded by Kovacs, but several of each type now filed on ACSearch; retail value $250, lot of 4 pieces, ex Dr. Dirk Löer Collection.
