AUSTRIA: AE medal, The War Commemorative Medal (Kriegserinnerungsmedaille), with original ribbon, AU, ex Joseph E. Lang Collection. The medal was instituted on November 21, 1932, by the First Austrian Republic. Obverse: a right-facing eagle with wings spread, standing upon a shield bearing the arms of the Duchy of Austria. Below the shield is the inscription "FÜR ÖSTERREICH" (For Austria). Reverse: The dates "1914-1918" are centered and surrounded by an oak leaf wreath. The designer's name, "GRIENAUER" (Edwin Grienauer), is inscribed at the bottom.
