Richter collection of Medals in Retz, May 1891; uniformed bust of Archduke Franz Ferdinand / Emperor Franz Josef I in a long robe, folded down with a chain of the Order of the Golden Fleece around his neck, with Juno Moneta, kneeling before him, a cherub with cornucopia below, Extremely Fine. Archduke Franz Ferdinand, Archduke of Austria-Este was born on 18 December 1863 in Graz. Together with his wife Sophie, Countess Chotek, Duchess of Hohenberg, he was killed on 28.06.1914 in Sarajevo. This event is regarded as the trigger for the onset of World War I.
