The Treaty of Teschen was signed on May 13, 1779 in Teschen, then in Austrian Silesia, between the Austrian Habsburg monarchy and the Kingdom of Prussia, which officially ended the War of the Bavarian Succession. Johann Leonhard Oexlein (1715-1787), was a prominent German medalist, die cutter, and gem engraver associated with the late-Rococo period. Based in Nuremberg and Regensburg, he created commemorative historical medals for royalty, ecclesiastical figures, and major European events.
