BACTRIA: Eukratides I, ca. 170-145 BC, AR obol (0.39g), Bop-. Mitch-166, HGC-12:140, diademed bust to right, wearing crested helmet // Herakles standing facing, crowning himself and holding club and lion skin, VF-XF, R. Normal obols of Eukratides I weight in the range of 0.63-0.70g, but this type varies from about 0.38g to 0.55g with an average of about 0.45g. The Greek calligraphy is coarse, sometimes barely legible. It is likely that this is an early issue under the Yueh Chi, perhaps circa 100± BC. The obols of Pabes adopt the same basic design, except that Herakles holds the club in his other hand and does not crown himself.
