BARBADOS: George III, 1760-1820, AE penny, 1788, KM-Tn4, Prid-11, double-struck off-center error, PCGS graded AU50, ex Dr. Axel Wahlstedt Collection. These tokens are thought to have been privately commissioned by Phillip Gibbs, a local plantation owner. These dies were engraved by John Milton, who in 1789 became assistant engraver at the Royal Mint. Milton records that this issue was struck starting October 4, 1788.
