BELGIUM: AE medal, 1905, Universal Exposition in Liege, N-30865, 30mm bronze medal by Alphonse Michaux for the Universal Exposition in Liege; EXPOSITION UNIVERSELLE / LIÈGE / 1905 above standing woman representing Belgium, in right profile, hands a branch of boxwood to a seated miner facing her, who is holding an ice axe in his left hand, an industrial landscape in the background, A.MICHAUX at bottom // allegorical representation of Belgium holding flag, lion on steps, vignette of Leopold I and Leopold II, 1830 - 1905 either side, A.MICHAUX at bottom, a lovely mint state example! PCGS graded MS63, ex Almer H. Orr III Collection. This visiting token was struck and sold at the Royal Mint's stand in the central gallery of the Belgian section, using an Uhlhorn press installed by the Mennig company.
