BENGAL PRESIDENCY: AR rupee (11.65g), Jahangirnagar, AH118(3) year 10, Stv-5.50. Prid-. KM-, obverse legend rearranged, plus the addition of the half-sun above the moon and the flower symbols on the obverse, used only in year 10, probably just for a few months, lightly cleaned, a few banker's marks on edge, VF, RRR. Jahangirnagar (Dacca, now Dhaka in Bangladesh) was brought under British control the same time as Patna (8 Rabi' II 1179), and produced coins under British control with the name Jahangirnagar in AH1179-1183, and thereafter with the mint name Murshidabad in 1183-1185, although the "Murshidabad" pieces struck at Dacca are not distinguishable from those struck at Calcutta. Only the nazarana rupee was known to Pridmore, and all are of great rarity.
