BOLIVIA: AR medal, 1884, 34mm silver medal by Soufflot & Robert for the Inauguration of the Gregorio Pacheco Mental Hospital in Sucre; EL / CONGRESO NACIONAL / AL FILANTROPO / GREGORIA PACHECO above and below the ediface of the hospital SOUFFLOT FILS ET H. ROBERT // "MANICOMIO / PACHECO / SUCRE / OCTUBRE / 2 DE 1884" within wreath, a superb toned lustrous example! PCGS graded MS65. The Gregorio Pacheco Mental Hospital in Sucre was commissioned in honor of President Gregorio Pacheco, who served from 1884 to 1888 and was known for his philanthropy. The medal was struck to celebrate his donation of the National Asylum building, located at the back of the Santa Bárbara Hospital.Francois Soufflot (father), a jeweler by profession, married Alexandrine Henriette Dumas on October 11, 1846 in Paris. They had one daughter and two sons, Paul Justin Soufflot and Henri Emile Soufflot. Francois Soufflot managed to make his modest workshop an important jewelry business and he was considered one of the best jewelers of goldwork. The eldest of Soufflot's sons, Paul Justin Soufflot, would also become a jewelry maker. Paul Soufflot was associated with his brother-in-law, Mr. Henri Robert Duluart between the years 1872 and 1892 in jewelry-making. Paul Justin Soufflot was married to Louise Isabelle Duluard. The medals of the Pacheco Asylum are signed by Soufllot Fils (Paul Justin Soufflot, son) and Henri Robert Duluart.
