Prid-285, East India Company issue in the name of Shah Alam II, vertical milling, struck in Calcutta with frozen mint and date, a lovely proof quality example! NGC graded Proof 63, RR. According to Pridmore, this issue was declared legal tender by Proclamation dated October 17, 1832, and was the first silver issue struck at the new Bombay mint. The style is similar to the Calcutta rupee issue of Pridmore-284. struck at Calcutta, 1823-1824.
