BRAZIL: Joao VI, 1818-1822, AR 960 reis, 1818-R, KM-326.1, Gomes-J6.22.02, struck over 1810 JP Peru 8 reales (Imaginary bust, KM-106.2), much of undertype showing through, crowned "B" countermark (Unc.) in recessed rectangle on crown, perhaps from the Caribbean, light tone, double outline on laurel branches, EF, RR. The significance of this countermark is not known to us. A look at the major search engines turned up no specimens.
