BRITISH GUIANA: Essequebo & Demarary: George III, 1812-1820, AE 1/2 stilver, 1813, KM-9, Prid-30, struck at the British Royal Mint, an attractive nearly mint state example, PCGS graded AU58. The Colony of Demerara-Essequibo was created on April 28, 1812, when the British combined the colonies of Demerara and Essequibo into the colony of Demerara-Essequibo. They were officially ceded to Britain on August 13, 1814 and on November 20, 1815, the agreement was ratified by the Netherlands. On July 21, 1831, Demerara-Esequibo united with Berbice as British Guiana.
