BRITISH HONDURAS: brass ¼ rial, 1871, KM-Tn1, Pridmore-75, American style Indian head left, BELIZE HONDURAS around /RECEIVABLE FOR ¼ RIAL BY J.J. (John Jex), EF, R.

Rial is an English language rendition of "real", the Spanish designation for 1/8 of a silver "dollar" coin. A very popular type in the USA due to its similarity to the then-current USA emission of Indian Cents of the same size and metal. John Jex (born in Norfolk, England, 1821), was a general merchant, importer and wholesale provision dealer, a Methodist and considerable benefactor to the church.
