BRITISH INDIA: George VI, 1936-1952, AR 1/4 rupee, Bombay, 1945(b), cf. KM-547, official mint waffle cancellation, VF-XF. As the British were withdrawing silver coins from circulation in 1945, the coins were struck again with this waffle cancellation pattern. This was done on 1/4, 1/2, and one rupee coins. They were supposed to remain within the mint, but clearly some were able to sneak out.
