IMPORTANT NOTE - The Buyer's Premium is now $20 per lot or 20% of the hammer price, whichever amount is greater. However, we have also reduced opening bids on lower value items to adjust for the new Buyer's Premium structure, so all-in costs are still very close to what they were in the past. This change in fee structure will allow us to continue to offer coins valued at less than $100 in addition to our higher value offerings. Contact us with any questions.
BRUNSWICK-WOLFENBÜTTEL: Friedrich Ulrich, 1613-1634, AE 3 pfennig, Regenstein, 1621, KM-237, Welter-1341, scarce type, a lovely lustrous caramel red-brown mint state example! PCGS graded MS63 RB, ex Joe Sedillot Collection. Frederick lost control of his government between 1616 and 1622 due to his alcoholism, with his mother and uncle, King Christian IV of Denmark, taking over and appointing a corrupt administration that caused economic collapse. He later regained power with the help of the nobility, but his weak leadership led to Brunswick being devastated during the Thirty Years' War, resulting in significant territorial losses.
