BURMA: TENASSERIM-PEGU: Anonymous, 17th/18th century, cast octagonal large tin coin (38.01g), VC-610, 61mm: knotted dragon (naga) right, above a pedestal, lotus bud above // 3-line Burmese legend with Chinese-style square in the center; boldly cast, some original luster, tiny remnant of original spur at the top, choice XF, RR. Van den Cruyce suggests that octagonal tin coins are older than the round, with the dragon type produced prior to about 1670, and other octagonals perhaps somewhat later.
