BUWAYHID: Samsam al-Dawla, as independent ruler, 997-998, AR dirham (3.32g), Tawwaj, AH388, A-1570D, Treadwell-Tw388, extremely rare mint in Fars province, mount removed, VF, RRR. Samsam al-Dawla declared his independence after the death of his suzerain Fakhr al-Dawla in AH387. Coins were struck in his name, without an overlord, only in 388 at Tawwaj (3 pieces known), and both silver & gold at 'Uman (both unique).
