Broome, Michael, A Survey of the Coinage of the Seljuqs of Rum, Royal Numismatic Society, Special Publication 48, London 2011, 400 plates, 62 plates, hardcover with dust jacket. This beautiful work by the late Michael Broome intends to bring together detailed descriptions of the surviving coins of Rum. The coinage is still plentiful and much of it was skillfully engraved and well struck. Although detailed descriptions have been published of Seljuq coins in most major collections, no previous attempt has been made to provide an overall coverage. Over 7,500 specimens are noted in this survey and it is hoped that it includes most of the material accessible to scholars. Nevertheless, there is still a small proportion still to be examined; and thus the catalogue has been arranged to make space for the discovery of new types, ex Libris Norman D. Nicol.
