CAMBODIA: Ang Duong, 1840-1860, pattern AE ¼ tical (salung) (3.85g), ND, KM-—, pagoda / inscription within wreath, bold strike with attractive chocolate brown surfaces, EF, RR. Little is known about this bronze pattern, but the Khmer calligraphy on this type differs from the white metal British-made patterns of similar design. The crudeness of strike might indicate this type was produced locally. Examples have sold in Numismatica Genevensis and Stack's Bowers & Ponterio. This type is published by Howard Daniel on page 114 of his book, Cambodian Coins and Currency.
