CANADA: 5 dollars, 1898, Pick-S619a, Charlton-550-28-06, Bank of Nova Scotia, signed Payzant, S/N 862924pp C, printed by ABNC Ottawa, a very rare note with few auction records, VF. The Bank of Nova Scotia was formed in 1832, and was made up of a group of merchants and ship owners. With the building of the Canadian Pacific Railway in the 1880s, the bank established branches in Winnipeg and Minneapolis. Branches were added in Chicago in 1890 and in Boston in 1899. The face design shows an allegorical female figure, a mining scene and a steamship approaching.
