CEYLON: AR 48 stuivers (18.07g), 1805, KM-77, Prid-9, elephant left, PCGS graded AU53. Forty Eight Stiver silver coin struck in Ceylon for circulation by authority dated June 8, 1803 with fineness .89166 and weight 100 to the pound avoirdupois. The locally struck silver coins commenced a little later than the copper, but like the copper, they were struck by contractors until the founding of the Ceylon Government Mint in 1811.
