IMPORTANT NOTE - The Buyer's Premium is now $20 per lot or 20% of the hammer price, whichever amount is greater. However, we have also reduced opening bids on lower value items to adjust for the new Buyer's Premium structure, so all-in costs are still very close to what they were in the past. This change in fee structure will allow us to continue to offer coins valued at less than $100 in addition to our higher value offerings. Contact us with any questions.
CHAGHATAYID KHANS: Qabul Khan, 1366-1368, AR 1/6 dinar (1.17g), ND, A-C2012, weakly struck as usual, Fine. Coins of Badakhshan are known dated 767-769 and those of Khwast are normally undated. The rulers name is spelled either qabul or kabul. Qabul Khan probably ruled only in the Badakhshan region. In histories his name is often given as Kabulshah, as though he were associated with the city of Kabul, for which there is no evidence. Peculiarly, he is entitled khaqan at Badakhshan (virtually always dated, 767-769) and sultan at Khwast (almost never dated, occasionally dated.
