CHHATARPUR:COLLECTION of 84 silver rupees, generically of type KM-15, including all known Shah Alam II regnal years: year 3 (3 pcs), year 4 (1), year 5 (2), year 6 (2), year 7 (3), year 8 (3), year 9 (1), year 10 (3), year 11 (1), year 12 (4), year 13 (2), year 14 (1), year 15 (4), year 16 (4), year 17 (6), year 18 (4), year 19 (1), year 20 (3), year 21 (5), year 22 (5), year 23 (3), year 24 (5), year 25 (12), year 26 (2), year 27 (2), and date off flan (2), above average circulating grade, with a large number EF, an important collection of Chhatarpur coins, retail value $4000, lot of 84 pieces, ex Paul Stevens Collection. This is a unique opportunity to acquire a fascinating assembly of the Chhatarpur rulers, including nearly all varieties published in the comprehensive work of Barry Tabor, which appeared in the Journal of the Oriental Numismatic Society vols. 183 & 193, plus about half a dozen variants unknown to Tabor. Each are identified by the Tabor number, except for some of the year 25 issues, which are later imitations tentatively assigned by Tabor to the mint of Bijapur. The KM numbers are not included, as they are now obsolete, having been based on a limited number of examples available for study in the early 1980s.
