CHINA: AR flat sycee (31.89g), ca. 17th-early 20th centuries, Krisadaolarn-B111, cf. Cribb-1067, 40mm, circular punch in center, VF, R, ex Howard A. Daniel III Collection. Krisadaolarn states that these were made in Yunnan but circulated in Northern Thailand in the 17th to early 20th centuries. The circular patterns on the obverse and the porous reverse indicate a similar casting method as other Chinese sycees. The unusual flat shape could be due to an attempt to emulate flat local currencies.
