CHINA (PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC): AE medal, ND (1993), 80mm bronze medal of Zhao Gongming by the Shanghai Mint, Zhao Gongming holding ceremonial sword and standing slightly right with left foot on the back of a recumbent tiger // Chinese character for wealth in central square with peacock and dragon supporters at left and right, respectively, with three characters on plaque above, and Chinese inscription and other characters below, in oversize NGC slab, NGC graded MS66, RR. Zhao Gongming, also known as Zhao Gong Yuanshuai ('Lord Zhao the Marshal'), is the martial god of wealth in Chinese folk religion. Zhao Gongming is the most notable among various forms of Caishen, and his birthday is commemorated on the fifth day of the first lunar month. He appears for the first time in the classic Chinese novel, Fengshen Yanyi, contrary to claims in Pochu Mixin Quanshu ('Comprehensive Book for Eradicating Superstition') that he was a creation of the Song era.We were unable to find any examples of this medal in an online search.
