CHINA: Republic, AR 50 tael sycee (1871.9g), 106.1 x 67.1 x 40.5mm, rectangular trough-shaped ingot (caoding), stamped with shop name lao hong xiang, GBCA graded MS60+, ex Dr. Dirk Löer Collection. One possible issuer of this sycee is a silver shop with the same name located in Hekou Township, Yanshan County in northeastern Jiangxi Province. Hekou was a prosperous town from the Ming Dynasty to the early 20th century thanks to its trade in black tea and paper.
