CHITTAGONG: Bahadur Shah, in Bengal, 1555-1560, AR tanka (10.55g), NM, AH959, G-B1004, broad flan, assigned by Goron to mint of Ramu (near Cox's Bazar [Bangladesh] south of Chittagong), lovely strike, nice EF, RR, ex John Deyell Collection. These types of Chittagong tankas are thought to be a trade coinage of sorts. Many of the the coins are either in the names of Suri or Bengal sultans. They are of crude calligraphy and manufacture and are usually found in the Chittagong and Comilla areas.
