CUBA: 5 centavos token, ND, Rulau-MAT15, INGENIO LA BENITA / MARAGLIANO, large numeral "10" at center // helmeted shield of arms with palm tree atop, flanked by scrollwork, struck in copper-nickel, small spot, an attractive lustrous prooflike example, PCGS graded MS62, ex Dr. Axel Wahlstedt Collection. This example was part of an old collection from Sweden of likely specimen strikes or sample coins due to the high quality of the strike and condition of the token. The Ingenio La Benita was founded around 1870 by Benito Maragliano, in the West neighborhood of Alacranes, Matanzas. Maragliano was the owner between 1870 and 1880. The tokens were designed by G. Loos and minted at the Preußische Staatsmünze, Berlin.
