According to Gray, "[Olav] Bonefeld suggests that this may be the earliest Tranquebar coin, on the premise that Admiral Ove Gjedde spelt the name thus in his diary when recording his arrival in 1620 to found the Danish factory."Christian IV was King of Denmark and Norway and Duke of Holstein and Schleswig from 1588 to 1648. His reign was the longest in Scandinavian history.
