DELHI: LOT of 140 coins, a large and diverse group of mostly large heavy copper paisa or dam coins, many issued by Sher Shah Suri (1540 -1545), likely a few later Mughal types mixed in, a broad mix of dated and mints, an unsearched accumulation and a very interesting study lot, average circulated quality, retail value $2100, lot of 140 140*coins, ex Dr. Vincent John Adams Flynn Collection. Delhi Sultanate copper coins of these types, often called Dam or Paisa, were crucial low-denomination currency, especially under the Suri Dynasty, known for their standardized weights and distinct Islamic calligraphy, reflecting robust trade and administration from the 13th to 16th centuries.
