DERAJAT: Pir Hasan Khan, dates unknown, AE paisa (8.95g), KM-—, unpublished type, same obverse as the only other known example, which appeared in our Auction 40, Lot 930, but the name is differently arranged // lion left instead of the word rayij with trace of a date above that is perhaps AH123x, which is too late for the information about Hasan Khan Laskrani, so perhsps a descendent from that "Hasan"; the style seems correct for the first half of the 19th century, Fine to VF, RRR. From the consignor: Hasan Khan Laskrani was a Balouch ruler who ruled Cis-Indus Punjab from 1770-1779. He was a Wazir to Fateh Khan Jaskani, and upon his death was able to keep himself in power by keeping Fateh Khan's son, Hayat Khan, under a close surveillance at the Mankera Fort, even after Hayat Khan had attained a Majority. His rule was at the time when Sikh Bhangi Sardars were a predominant force in Cis-Sutlej Punjab. The First Occupation of Multan led by Sardar Jhanda Singh Dhillon took place within his rule (from the Gazette of Dera Isma'il Khan).
