DURRANI: Ahmad Shah, 1747-1772, AR "1/4 rupee" (3.38g), Herat, AH(11)63, A-3092H, citing padshah ahmad in the obverse central circle and the mint below the reverse (almost entirely off-flan, but clear on the specimen in the Tübingen collection), crude VF, RRR. Two other examples cited on CoinArchives weigh 2.87g and 3.28g, and all are too heavy to be a true 1/4 rupee, whose standard weight is 2.68g. The crude style suggests that this type was a local emergency issue, struck at a somewhat random weight.
